An experienced field geologist, igneous petrologist and applied mineralogist, Dr Alan R Butcher is the leading expert on the application of QEMSCAN® to research and real world analysis.

After gaining his PhD in 1984 from The University of Manchester (UK), Alan has enjoyed an international career with appointments as Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Institute for Geological Research on the Bushveld Complex, South Africa); Geochronologist (CSIR, South Africa); Research Associate (Rhodes University, South Africa); Lecturer in Igneous Petrology & MSc Mining Geology Course Director (Camborne School of Mines, UK); Mineralogical Consultant (CSMA Minerals); and Process Mineralogist (CSIRO Minerals, Australia), to his credit.
