Building the Next Generation of Automated Mineralogy Solutions

On January 5, 2009, FEI announced the purchase of selected assets from Intellection Pty Ltd., including all QEMSCAN software and intellectual property. FEI has contracted selected technical personnel from Intellection, and has opened a facility in Brisbane, Australia.

The Intellection asset purchase is the result of FEI's determination to further develop automated mineralogy technology and continuously increase the value it delivers to natural resource companies, service providers and research institutes. "We look forward to working with QEMSCAN customers to advance the science, technology, applications, and value of automated mineralogy," said FEI Industry Division VP and General Manager Paul Scagnetti.

As a result of changes to Intellection's business status, Intellection contracts and commitments will not be carried forward. FEI and the Intellection technical team are working hard to meet with every QEMSCAN customer to discuss requirements and interest in new contracts for software and application support through a newly more sustainable support organization. For QEMSCAN hardware support, local Zeiss representatives or Anaspec can be contacted directly. Customers interested in both hardware and software/application support will need to create two support contracts - one with a Zeiss representative and one with FEI.

FEI's MLA partnership with JKTech, a leader in mineral analysis, continues unchanged. FEI is proud to continue the long term partnership with JKTech, focused on automated mineralogy solutions. MLA system service continues via FEI for hardware support and via JKTech for software and application support.
